Investing in the stock market is no walk in the park, as anybody will tell you. It is your hard earned money on the line and when you lose a trade it hurts real bad. It is important, then, to take advantage of every advantage you can take in order to not be wasting your money on bad investments. Looking for an online investment blog is one very viable option nowadays, as most people have the luxury of constant access to the World Wide Web. There is usually a lot of free information you can’t find elsewhere and if you meet the right people, they’ll tell you everything you need to know to make a lot of money investing in the stock market.

You have probably heard the cliche two heads are better than one, and that three heads are better than two. Imagine having thousands of people with a common interest in investing to share knowledge with. Think about just how much you can learn by sharing and listening to stories from fellow investors, experienced and inexperienced alike. I am not only talking about investing with respect to this learning: you may be surprised with how much you can learn from other people, never mind the fact that they are only online and not communicating personally. Socializing, at any level, is the spice of life, so why not integrate something as complicated as investing with the simple act of communicating with other people? Investing blogs make sure that you learn, while enjoying the benefits that socializing brings as well.

Make sure you read the rules for the website or blog before joining. Each website will have its own set of rules they want you to follow. Also, you should check out a website’s reputation with other traders. If you see comments being deleted on a regular basis, stay away from that website. Websites that put amateur moderators in charge are usually bad websites to be on. The reason is that they restrict the free flow on information and knowledge. Anyone who exercises the power of deletion as a moderator is someone who does not care about giving everyone their right to free speech. If they are willing to trample free speech, what else are they willing to do: take money from your trading account? So take some time researching a stock blog or message forum before getting addicted to their content.

Enjoying others’ online company, while learning how and where to invest your money, is the main reason behind the existence of any online investment club. Pick one for yourself, and watch your investments increase in value.

Keep an eye on the type of stocks a message forum, club, or blog is telling you to buy. Is there a pattern of the stock picks always being small caps? If there is, watch out. Small cap stocks move on very little buying activity. These are the easiest stocks to push higher. Make sure you are not the target of a pump and dump snow job involving small cap stocks.

A good trading system is about much more than just selecting stocks. Certainly that is important as well. However, a good trading system will provide the ability for you to protect against losses, manage your money, add proper leverage when necessary, and also select a stock selection maximizing your reward and minimizing your risk.
The guess work is taken out of the way for you. The stock is purchased when criteria is met, the amount of stock purchased is also based on certain criteria. The stock is sold when criteria met, and there are protective measures against a stock’s demise, and where possible and appropriate leverage is created to maximize the returns without taking on more risk than you can handle.

This trading system will be talked about in 5 additional parts in addition to this intro. This post is designed to explain the trading system, its functions and how it operates.

1) Exit strategy. Every good system trader will first know the exit strategy. It doesn’t matter what vehicle selection you use, if you have no exit strategy, you’re stuck. The trick is to understand that unless you want to get trapped in an investment you have to know when you’re getting out.

A good exit strategy has both loss protection, and profit taking, and sometimes even a 3rd stop. The first 2 might be a maximum loss, and a maximum gain before taking profits, while the 3rd one will be a trailing stop that rides the gains up, and will sell the remaining shares. There are other exit strategies such as hold forever and write covered calls against it to collect income, or protective puts in place of a stop-loss.

2) Protection. Although #1 covers most of the protection, there are several other ways to protect yourself. Protection is vital to allow you to stay in the game. Many people know that if you lose 20% you need a 25% gain to make up for it. Losses not only can result in a series of losses that wipe you out, but they also hinder your ability to gain in the future. a 95% loss for example requires a 2000% nearly impossible goal to make up for this loss. So even if you flip a coin and have a 50% chance of gaining 200% or 50% chance of losing 95% of it, you should probably not take it if all your money is at risk, because it doesn’t have the downside protection A series of wins followed by 1 loss would prevent your ability to stay in the game. Even though those odds SEEM fair, they are not without proper protection. Protection ensures that you won’t have that 95% loss, and it absolutely restricts that loss to a fixed amount, rather than take 100% risk.

Such forms of protections are writing calls, in this situation you are given a premium so if the stock tanks to zero in a worst case scenario you’d still end up with the premium, this is minimal protection, and only protects a marginal amount of decline before the losses continue. The other form of protection would be buying a protective put. This actually in fact does protect against catastrophic losses. The lower your stock goes if/when it crashes, the more you make from your put or puts. You are the one paying a small amount in order to protect against any sort of decline below the designated price. The lower this price, the cheaper the option. If a stock is at $50 and you buy a protective put at a strike price of 40, you will NOT be protected against losses from 50 to 40, but beyond that you will be protected to the downside.

These are somewhat more sophisticated forms of protection. Basic forms of protection are diversifying, and perhaps being short. If you buy a stock at $100, and you short one in the same sector at $100, if the whole sector goes up, you are betting not that the market will go up, not that the sector will go up, but that stock A that you are long will outperform stock B in a bull market, and stock B will under perform stock A in a down market. This offers protection although it may limit the gains as well, Plus, you actually have to be right in your thesis.

In addition, if you are short, and the stock market booms, you may get a margin call and be forced to sell. Also, if you do not use money management, you are at risk of a short term swing requiring you to sell all of your shares of the stock that went up, in order to pay for those that you were short that went up, and if you can’t cover your short, your entire account is in jeopardy of being wiped out.

So rather than being short, I recommend replacing it with buying put options, although this has lots of risks involving time decay as well that you must understand before investing. Using a business entity such as a C Corp or a LLC is another form of protection that can protect you potentially against higher taxes, and personal financial trouble such as a bankruptcy on your record if you intend on using forms of leverage such as loans.

3) Money Management and Control. A good trading system will have a form of control. it will allow you to not give up that control when things go bad. In other words, it allows you to manage your money. Money management is very important. Perhaps one of the most important things is position sizing. If you buy $10,00 of stock for one stock when you only have $10,000 in your account this is very poor money management. Continue to do this, and eventually you will suffer a large loss which will be great, and it will be very difficult to gain enough to make up for it. In addition, if the price goes lower depending on your system, you may want to give yourself flexibility. Extra cash on the sides is another form of money management. It doesn’t have to be cash per say, but some form of safety. Various forms of currency, sometimes some gold, bonds, and money market accounts that are all fairly liquid would be a few examples.

4) Leverage Leverage is about using your abilities to gain, the strength of your trading system and various tools to minimize risk, and increase gain. When you take on leverage, you should be able to reduce your position size in comparison to your capital, and still have a similar reward or gain.

Forms of leverage include options, the further out of money option you purchase, the more leverage you have if that stock does make a strong move. You can also sell options to raise capital to invest in some cases.

Another from of leverage is a loan. Whether it’s a credit card, a home equity loan, going on margin, or a business loan for an asset holding company, or even taking a company public and using the capital to invest, the idea is to gain money at x% and to invest it and make a greater return than x%. if you can do this, and manage money well, and protect yourself, Your gain is only limited to the amount of capital you can borrow at the maximum of slightly less than what you expect to gain. Generally however, if you use a loan, you should have a form of cash flow or income that will cover the costs of the loan just in case your investment goes wrong. That’s another form of money management while using leverage. Money management should be treated much differently under different forms of leverage.

5) Finally, the stock selection vehicle. You need some method to select your vehicle, based on this and your other factors you will determine time horizon and a methodology of trading. The system will help you choose your trading stocks, and exactly what to do with them. You can play around with different trading systems, but generally you should first attempt a good exit strategy and make sure your controls on parts 1-4 of your trading system are sound, and try tweaking them

Stock Trading Systems that are well defined will leave very little room for error. If you learn to use a trading system, you can choose to enhance the essential skills it takes to making your trading system better.

Unfortunately, many day traders are slaves to the computer screen and can miss a moment. Focus on building the better trading system, and not placing the better trade, and you will give yourself some valuable time. If you are really using a system, you don’t need to be the one to place the trades, and can instead higher someone to do the work for you. You can use that extra time to improve your system, or find new ways to invest, or learn how to become a better trader.

Since the 19th century, penny stocks have been part of the American investment world. This is where the stocks got their names, since modern penny stocks almost never cost a penny. They’re usually more like ten cents to five dollars. Now, let’s look at the risks of working with penny stocks, then the opportunities they can provide.
Penny stocks are share offerings to investors made by companies either too new or too small to be listed in major stock exchange listings. There’s a big potential for growth for relatively small investments initially, but pump and dump schemes are a real risk in this area. Just like anything else that has to do with the OTC (over-the-counter) market, buyers should remember to beware.

Choosing penny stocks reasonably means that you need to have an independent appraisal of the company’s business model. Much like buying shares of any other kind of publicly traded company, it’s necessary to understand everything about the company. That means knowing what they do, what they make, what products are offered, how their business model works and who their major competitors are.

One of the things that makes penny stocks so appealing is the fact that most of the businesses offering them are extremely simple. One typical kind of penny stock is a mining company that profits only when the price of the material it extracts goes above a certain level. There are also some oil exploration stocks that are valued in the same way.

Penny stocks are considered a high risk vehicle, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The risks you may encounter with these stocks include indirect and incomplete reporting of financial information, limited liquidity and even fraud. People using a day trading strategy can find that penny stocks that are in sudden demand create enormous volatility movements. Because of this, it’s hard to short sell penny stocks.

The reporting guidelines on penny stocks are a lot less strict than they are for stocks listed on the national exchanges. In fact, some stocks will just delist for a few days. In the investment type known as the Pink Sheets, there’s almost no regulatory requirement on penny stocks, no minimum accounting standards or reporting guidelines.

Because these stocks aren’t standardized and don’t have an generally accepted requirements for accounting, they can be extremely vulnerable to being manipulated or even just plain fraud. People posing as independent observers can encourage people to run up the price, then they sell and de list the stock. This is the classic pump and dump scam.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you should never invest in penny stocks. There are lots of real, legitimate startup companies out there, and they need to have a good place to get up and running. If you’re able to pick a winner, you’ll get an impressive return.

If you’re able to spot a company with lots of promise, you could get an enormous payday. Even if you lose four out of five of your picks, the single winner you get will give you enough to forget about the other losses.

Saving and investing are different, although savings are often the source of funds for investing. Savings are a percentage of your income that you put aside regularly, usually at a low interest rate.
The beginning of personal wealth is the accumulation of capital that you can use for investing. This capital often begins with savings and expands into other types of more profitable investments. Savings are the beginning of your capital accumulation. Families need a regular savings program thats between 5 and 10 percent of net pay per month. Some people even manage to put away 15 percent. Saving money monthly should be a habit and regularly expected monthly.

Additionally, individuals and families need emergency funds. Folks with fluctuating income, few job benefits, and little job security may need to have a larger emergency fund. Families with two wage earners may need a smaller emergency fund. Always have some type of backup planned for future problems. While having money in investments can be great, pulling money out of an investment can take time or may not be possible for months.

A general rule is to have three to six months of take-home pay in a savings account (or a near-cash account similar to a market fund with check-writing privileges) for emergencies. If you dont have an emergency fund, you need to increase your savings. Payroll deduction plans that divert funds into a savings account or money market fund are often the most painless way to achieve the best results. On the other hand, if youve been saving a surplus, you may want to consider using these funds for investing.

Learning how to invest and finding funds for your investments is a challenge everyone struggles with daily. As always keep in mind that building up your investment empire takes time and knowledge. All investments involve some kind of risk, keep that in mind and know what the risks are before you invest.

Every person has to make some investment choices. In the investment arena, two frequently used terms are stocks and bonds. A lot of people invest their money through stocks and bonds. The whole point of investing your money with some company is to multiply it. But do you know how stocks and bonds function and how exactly you get profits? There are certain marked differences between the two. We’ll enlighten you on these in this article.
You must have a picture of a loan. Bonds are very similar. Investing in bonds means that you are loaning your money to a company, organization, or government of your choice. You get a receipt for your loan from the concerned body, and you get the interest on your loan in the form of a bond.

A bonds value is directly determined on the value of its interest rate. This rate is determined from the economy and value of the open market. If a bonds interest rate goes up then the bond is worth more for face value. If the bond’s interest rate goes down then bond is sold at a lower face value.

Investors like bonds because of the higher interest rates bonds pay out at. You can buy bonds from stockbrokers or OTC markets.

Stocks are an investment in a company. You essential are a part owner of the company when you purchase a stock share.

Stocks fluctuate in value depending upon how well the company is doing. The better the company does, the higher will its stock prices rise. The reverse is equally true. Stocks can be traded as options too, which is a type of futures business. You can buy and sell stocks every day, on the Internet, in the comfort of your home. Rise and fall in the stock market affects the value of the share you have purchased. So you should realize that stock trading is by far riskier than investing in bonds.

There are very few forex trading signals providers that are genuinely consistently profitable month after month. There are many that claim to be and have impressive looking performance records but very often it transpires that they massage their numbers, and use hypothetical figures in their calculations, rather than trade their signals themselves.
I’ve come across many different forex signals providers in my time. It’s hard not to as the internet’s full of them. Nearly all of them have turned out to be a waste of time. I thought I’d found a great site a while back in the shape of Forex Live Pro, but after having several highly profitable months, even they ended up going on a losing streak and have since closed down.

I’m not sure how common the Smoothed Repulse indicator actually is but it’s one that I’ve recently discovered hidden away in ProRealTime, the excellent charting software, and I have to say I’m quite impressed by it so far.

As an investor, you have a variety of options to choose from. Which you choose depends on your financial goals, your investment preferences, and your tolerance for risk. Some are suitable for all investors; others are geared more toward the experienced investor.
Stocks
When you buy stock, you’re buying ownership in a company. The benefit of owning stock in a company is that whenever the company profits, you profit as well. Typically, investors buy stocks and hold them for a long time, making decisions along the way about reallocating investment capital as financial needs change, selling underperformers, and so forth.
As an investor, you want to make sure that your stock portfolio is carefully balanced among the different types of stocks (domestic, growth, value, international, and so on) and your other investments. When you buy a bond, you’re essentially lending money to this entity for the promise of repayment in addition to a specified annual return. In that sense, a bond is really nothing more than an IOU with a serial number. People in suits, to sound impressive, sometimes call bonds debt securities or fixed-income securities.

Although some entities are more reliable than others bonds generally offer stability and predictability well beyond that of most other investments. Because you are, in most cases, receiving a steady stream of income (the annual returns, for example), and because you expect to get your principal back in one piece (at the end of the bond’s life), bonds tend to be more conservative investments than stocks, commodities, or collectibles.

Mutual funds

Simply put, a mutual fund is an investment company. Investors put money into that company, and an investment manager buy securities on behalf of all the investors. Those securities may include various types of stocks, various types of bonds, or both. If you invest in mutual funds, you have thousands of options to choose from, each representing a different mixture of securities.

Because so many shareholders pool their money into each mutual fund, an investment manager can buy a diverse portfolio of securities – much more diverse than most individuals can manage to buy on their own.

Exchange-traded funds

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are something of a cross between an index mutual fund and a stock. Although relatively new, they’ve grown exponentially in the past few years and they will surely continue to grow and gain influence.

Among the characteristics that make ETFs so compelling is the fact that they’re cheap. Many ETFs carry total management expenses under 0.25 percent a year. Some of the larger ETFs carry management fees as low as 0.09 percent a year. The average mutual fund, in contrast, charges 1.70 percent a year. ETFs are also tax-smart. Because of the way they’re structured, the taxes you pay on any growth are minimal.

Annuities are investments with money-back guarantees: You invest a certain amount of money for a promise that you’ll get your money back, with interest, after (or over) a certain time period. That’s all that annuities really are – along with enough exceptions, disclaimers, and contingencies to fill a medium-sized law library. Bottom line? The exact nature of the guarantee varies with the type of annuity. In fixed annuity contracts, for instance, your rate of return is guaranteed for a certain number of years. In the latest variable annuity contracts, you can lock in a guaranteed rate of return. With an immediate annuity, you get guaranteed income.

Do you know that investing money can actually make you quite a lot of money? It is a very lucrative way to use your money. You would be surprised at how much money can actually make just by investing the money that you already have.
Now that you are ready to start investing, you must to begin by learning. You won’t make any money, in fact you’ll probably lose money, if you don’t know what you’re doing. That is why you need to learn. Start by taking a course or designing your own course.
It is actually really easy to design an investing study course for yourself. Basically, you are teaching yourself. You need to first look for books about the subject you are investing in.
Do you know that investing money can actually make you quite a lot of money?
Now that you are ready to start investing, you must to begin by learning. You won’t make any money, in fact you’ll probably lose money, if you don’t know what you’re doing. That is why you need to learn. Start by taking a course or designing your own course.

It is actually really easy to design an investing study course for yourself. Basically, you are teaching yourself. You need to first look for books about the subject you are investing in. For example if you are going to invest in bonds, you need to get books about bonds. Fortunately for you, there are lots of books on all the different kinds of investments out there. You should not have trouble finding any at your local library, Amazon.com, or in other bookstores around you.

Now you need to plan out a schedule and study plan. How much time can you devote to your studying of stocks, bonds, or other investments? Now, plan everything out and make a concrete schedule to follow. Make sure it is easy to follow and reasonable. Add in practice as well such as using a stock market simulation game or keep track of mock investments on a spreadsheet.

Now you should have a plan. It should be a concrete plan that you can follow easily and that is effective for you. Adjust as necessary. If you ever come across something you don’t understand, keep studying until you completely understand it. The learning process is especially important in the investment process.

Don’t wait too long before you start investing. The sooner you start, the more money you will make. So even if you don’t feel like you’re an expert and are entirely ready, get ready to start investing. You’ll made more money in the long run.

After trying many different stock market trading systems I fell in love with the Decision Bar Trader developed by Les Schwartz. Many stock market pros turn to Les when they have a question.
The Decision Bar Trader created by Les Schwartz is a very simple to use yet highly effective piece of software for trading just about every kind of market. Raw beginners can use the Decision Bar Trader and become successful in short order.
Since he began trading in 1988 Les discovered that the price of a stock, or whatever instrument you are is the deciding factor. It’s a simple fact that you make money is when you buy low and sell higher, or the opposite if you are a short seller. Les designed his Decision Bar Trader to make use of the natural buy and sell spots that occur frequently in every instrument you might trade.

If you are looking for a simple yet effective method of trading, the Decision Bar Trader may be for you. There is a warning I can give you. Because it is very easy to use you may be inclined to not follow the system as Les teaches and go off on a tangent. Follow the Decision Bar Trader signals and you’ll obtain better results than you’ve ever experienced. With the Decision Bar Trader you can trade long term, short term, (day trade), swing trade, and even trade options effectively.

Because Decision Bar Trader is such a “snap” to learn, you will be able to use the system the same day you receive it in the mail.

Les offers a 30 day FREE trial. Postage of course is not refundable. Decision Bar Trader works for stocks, futures, and the Forex markets.

As discussed before the Decision Bar Trader works on all time periods from short, to long term trades. Option traders will also love this system of trading.

Decision Bar does require you to have live data feed if you are day trading. I highly recommend that you use a live data feed even if you are not a day trader. Several live sources are given that also have a free trial to go along with the system.

Decision Bar Trader is not some black box method of trading, and it does require you do put some thought into each trade you take. This becomes quite simple though as you start to understand how the system operates.

Decision Bar Trader is worth its low monthly cost especially if you are an active trader. It can even save you a lot of money from the bad trades it will keep you from taking. In a nutshell:

Paper trade Decision bar trader for a full month for free and then decide for yourself. You have nothing to lose but your time. You’ll discover as others have that Les Schwartz and Decision Bar Trader is the real deal and the go to guy when it comes to trading the markets.
